How mehenot payment works, and is mehenot real?
Yes, mehenot is real. It is a registered business in Dhaka (trade licence APPT/DNCC/011093/2026). Clients pay through SSLCommerz, mehenot holds the money until the work is approved, and freelancers withdraw to bKash or a bank account.
Since 1 October 2026, every new order and contract on mehenot is paid this way. Contracts started before then may still be paid directly between the client and the freelancer.
From payment to payout, step by step
Freelancers: on a new order or contract, do not start the work until mehenot shows the payment as held. If it is not held yet, the client has not paid.
Our Terms say the same: work starts once the whole milestone is held.1. The client pays mehenot
The client pays through SSLCommerz with bKash, Nagad or another option shown at checkout. A client pays the price agreed with the freelancer. There is no platform fee on top. One payment can be up to ৳5,000; a bigger milestone is paid in parts.
2. mehenot holds the money
The client's money is held by mehenot until the work is approved. Work starts once the payment is held, so the freelancer knows the money is there.
3. The freelancer delivers
The freelancer submits the work on mehenot, and the client reviews it.
4. The client approves, and the money is released
When the client approves, the payment goes to the freelancer. If the client does not respond within 3 days of delivery, it is released automatically, with a reminder one day before.
5. The freelancer withdraws to bKash or bank
mehenot charges freelancers a 10% service fee on each payment they receive. Clients pay no platform fee. The rest goes to the freelancer's mehenot wallet. They can withdraw from ৳500 to bKash or a bank account, with no transfer fee, and it is sent within 7 working days.
If something goes wrong
Either side can open a dispute. The money stays frozen while mehenot reviews what was agreed and what was delivered, then decides: release to the freelancer, refund to the client, or a split.
